06:00 pm: The cyclo will pick up tourists from their hotels in Hue central. Starting the food by cyclo trip.
First, we’ll take you to the local restaurant famous for Nam - Loc to enjoy the bold flavor of Hue culinary culture.
- Bánh Bèo (Bloating Fern-shaped cake): usually serves in small bowls, with the rice flour, shrimp paste, fried onion, and fish sauce. You may find other places serve the dry shrimp paste, unlike the one in the picture. It depends on what style you want. The fish sauce for Bánh bèo is quite sweet and not so salted.
- Bánh Bột Lọc (Rice dumpling cake): Bánh bột lọc traditionally is covered with banana leaf. In each cake, there is a piece of shrimp and ground pork. The fish sauce goes with Bánh bột lọc is different from Bánh bèo. It is saltier, therefore, it is served in a very small plate. How to eat it? You peel the leaf, dip the cake with a sauce, then enjoy
- Bánh Nậm (Flat Steamed Rice Dumplings). Make by rice flour, with a bit of shrimp and pork meat being smashed so you can’t see the meat clearly. You can only ‘feel’ it when eating.
The fish sauce to go with Bánh nậm really depends on your flavor, whether you want it to be salty or sweet. Therefore, you can either eat Bánh nậm with the fish sauce for Bánh bèo or Bánh bột lọc
In addition, you can enjoy the famous Khoai cake with its eye-catching colors, crispy crust and Hue lemongrass skewer with grilled pork sausage; served with vegetables and a special sauce that blends to bring a great taste.
Then, move to Con Hen to enjoy the special local food here. It’s Cơm Hến, the soul of Hue street cuisine. Cơm Hến is a rice dish with rural ingredients like baby mussels (hen) and fresh herbs combined through a sophisticated process. The mussels are boiled to create the broth adding sweetness and depth to the rice.
Next program, our cyclo will take you to a restaurant to enjoy the famous Bun Bo Hue (Vietnamese spicy beef noodle soup in Hue style) that you must try when traveling to Hue.
Hue is a city in central Vietnam associated with the cooking style of the former royal court.
The Hue is famous for fussy beauty of each dish. “bun bo” bowl seem meager but elegant with sweet broth, white “bun”, few slices of red chilli and lemongrass.
The broth is prepared by simmering beef bones and beef shank with lemongrass and then seasoned with fermented shrimp sauce and sugar for taste. Spicy chili oil is added later during the cooking process.
The dish is greatly admired for its balance of spicy, sour, salty and sweet flavors and the predominant flavor is that of lemon grass.
Hue style not only is the elegant, sophisticated, precise dishes but also feel the spirit of the processor. Coming to Hue, either morning or afternoon, walking along the small streets, people can find easily “bun bo Hue”
Besides, you can see and take pictures outside the Citadel at night with shimmering lights.
Finally, you will experience the ultimate dessert which is Che Hue (Sweet Soup).
Previously, Che Hue was an indispensable dessert in the royal court of the Nguyen Dynasty, later this is a snack that everyone from children to adults loves. Today, Che Hue is also a dish used to offer sacrifices on holidays, New Year's Day, the first day, and the full moon day.
